Thr3d

A 10 track electronic album (36m 55s) — released April 3rd 2020 on Bastard Jazz Recordings

Bastard Jazz is proud to present the brand new album 'Th3rd" from Fukoka, Japan based producer Brisa. Having been co-signed by the likes of Gilles Peterson, Lefto, Danny Krivit, Toshio Matsuura and more, his production is forward thinking, hard to pin down electronic music for the headphones and the dancefloor. The album leads off with "Cloudnine" with it's heavy drums, synth stabs, analog bassline, swirling vocoder bits and ghostly voices drifting in and out, while album single "Behind The Veil" is on first listen evocative of a grittier Floating Points but invokes Footwork vibes, jazz keys, strings and female R&B vocal snippits. "New Way" moves into deeper and atmospheric acid house territories, while "DLMD" brings in elements of funk & soul through it's relentless percussion break and Rhodes interludes. All in all on "Th3rd" Brisa has created an intricate, well thought out world where genre remains submissive to style - whether it's downtempo, deep house, drum'n'bass, or lo-fi beats the sound remains uniquely his own.
